Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Doxorubicin-loaded DC Bead is a drug-device combination used for transarterial chemoembolization of liver tumors, particularly hepatocellular carcinoma. It consists of DC Bead embolic microspheres loaded ex vivo with the anthracycline doxorubicin and administered selectively through the hepatic artery. The microspheres occlude tumor-feeding vessels while locally and sustainably eluting doxorubicin, combining ischemic embolization with locoregional cytotoxic chemotherapy. DC Bead is marketed by Boston Scientific and is compatible with doxorubicin for local treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma.
