Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MATIDOX-LB is an oral fixed-dose combination of the broad-spectrum tetracycline antibiotic doxycycline and the probiotic Lactobacillus (lactic acid bacillus). Doxycycline exerts its antibacterial effect by reversibly binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria, thereby inhibiting protein synthesis and preventing bacterial growth. It is widely used to treat various bacterial infections, including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, acne vulgaris, and sexually transmitted infections. The co-formulated Lactobacillus probiotic helps restore and maintain the natural balance of the intestinal microbiota, mitigating the risk of antibiotic-associated diarrhea and other gastrointestinal side effects commonly caused by doxycycline.
