DPC 083

DPC 083 is a second-generation non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) developed for the treatment of HIV-1 infection. It was designed to be effective against both wild-type and NNRTI-resistant strains of HIV-1, including those with key resistance mutations such as K103N. DPC 083 demonstrated antiviral activity comparable to efavirenz in preclinical studies and early clinical trials. The drug was intended for once-daily oral administration, either alone or in combination with nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs). Clinical development included phase I and II trials, but the program was ultimately discontinued before approval[1][2][3][5].
