Overview

**DPD-207** is a second-generation small molecule antimicrobial agent from the XF drug family, developed by Destiny Pharma Plc for treating and preventing bacterial and fungal infections, particularly dermal and ocular infections. It exhibits innate bactericidal activity against Gram-positive bacteria such as *Staphylococcus aureus* and antifungal effects against *Candida albicans*, with mechanisms involving disruption of bacterial membrane integrity, inhibition of DNA, RNA, and protein synthesis, and loss of cell viability. Unlike XF-73 and XF-70, DPD-207 is specifically designed without photodynamic (PD) activation due to its iron metalloporphyrin structure, making it suitable for non-light-dependent applications; it shows activity in preclinical models including murine *S. aureus* infections and synergy potential with antibiotics, though higher concentrations are needed for biofilms and Gram-negatives compared to related XF drugs.[1][3][7][9][11]
