Overview

DPK-060 is a synthetic, 17-amino acid cationic antimicrobial peptide derived from the human protein kininogen. It acts primarily by disrupting microbial cell membranes, resulting in broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including resistant strains such as MRSA. In addition to its antimicrobial effects, DPK-060 also exhibits anti-inflammatory properties. The drug has been developed for topical use and has undergone phase II clinical trials for atopic dermatitis and otitis externa (outer ear infection), where it demonstrated safety and tolerability but did not achieve statistically conclusive efficacy due to formulation instability. Recent research efforts have focused on improving its stability through advanced formulations such as nanostructured lipid carriers[2][5][6][8].
