DPOC-4088

DPOC‑4088 is a small molecule, orally active, potent, rapidly binding, reversible and competitive direct thrombin inhibitor. It was developed for the prevention and treatment of venous and cardiogenic thromboembolism. The drug reached phase I clinical trials but development was discontinued. Its mechanism of action is direct inhibition of thrombin (coagulation factor IIa), which plays a central role in blood coagulation by converting fibrinogen to fibrin. The compound was initially developed as an alternative to warfarin with the aim of providing more predictable anticoagulant effects and potentially improved safety profile compared to traditional vitamin K antagonists[1][4][6][7].
