Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DQ7-CHAR NK cells are chimeric HLA antibody receptor (CHAR) natural killer (NK) cells engineered to target and eliminate HLA-DQ7-specific B cells. Developed by researchers at Hospital Clinic de Barcelona, Leiden University Medical Center, Erasmus MC, and IDIBAPS, these cells are designed to address antibody-mediated rejection (ABMR) and facilitate desensitization in sensitized solid organ (e.g., renal) transplant patients. The CHAR construct is composed of HLA-DQA1*05:01 and HLA-DQB1*03:01 (DQ7) chains combined with a CLIP peptide and intracellular costimulatory and signaling domains. Transduced into NK92 or primary NK cells, DQ7-CHAR NK cells selectively target and eliminate B cells expressing HLA-DQ7-specific B-cell receptors (BCRs) without affecting other antibody-producing B cells.
