Overview

Dracorhodin perchlorate is a synthetic derivative of dracorhodin, a natural pigment compound found in the traditional Chinese medicine dragon’s blood (primarily from Daemonorops draco or Dracaena draconis). It is used in preclinical research and is known for its pro-apoptotic and anti-proliferative effects, including induction of cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in various cancer cell lines. Dracorhodin perchlorate also exhibits wound-healing properties by promoting fibroblast proliferation and enhancing growth factor expression (notably bFGF and EGF). Additionally, it inhibits high glucose-induced serum and glucocorticoid-induced protein kinase 1 (SGK1) and fibronectin (FN) expression in human mesangial cells, which may contribute to antifibrotic and potential antidiabetic nephropathy actions. It is not approved for clinical or therapeutic use and is available only for research purposes[1][2][3][5][7][8][10].
