DRCYO-01

DRCYO-01 is an investigational injectable formulation of **nafamostat mesylate** being developed by the Japanese company DRC Co., Ltd. (DRCiyaku) for the treatment of COVID-19. Nafamostat mesylate is a potent serine protease inhibitor traditionally used in Japan for the treatment of acute pancreatitis and disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). In the context of SARS-CoV-2 infection, nafamostat acts by inhibiting the host cell surface enzyme **transmembrane protease serine 2 (TMPRSS2)**, which is required to prime the viral spike protein for entry into host cells. DRCYO-01 utilizes DRC's proprietary drug delivery system (DDS) or formulation technology to optimize the delivery and efficacy of nafamostat for COVID-19 therapy. The program is currently in early-stage clinical development in Japan.
