Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DreaDerm Baby Nappy Rash Ointment (also referred to as DexaDerm) is a topical pharmaceutical product developed and marketed by Actor Pharma, a South African company. It is specifically indicated for the treatment and prevention of nappy rash (diaper dermatitis) in infants and can also be used by adults. The active ingredient is dexpanthenol (50 mg/g), a provitamin of B5. Upon topical application, dexpanthenol is converted into pantothenic acid, which is a constituent of Coenzyme A. This process supports epithelial repair, skin hydration, and barrier function. The ointment base, containing ingredients like lanolin and castor oil, provides an additional physical barrier against moisture and irritants.
