Overview

Driponin is a brand name for a pharmaceutical product containing ivermectin as its active ingredient. Ivermectin is an anthelmintic (anti-parasitic) agent used primarily to treat infections caused by certain parasites, including strongyloidiasis (intestinal threadworm infection) and onchocerciasis (river blindness). The drug works by binding selectively and with high affinity to glutamate-gated chloride ion channels in the nerve and muscle cells of invertebrates, leading to paralysis and death of the parasite. Driponin tablets contain 3 mg of ivermectin per tablet. While ivermectin has been studied for other indications such as COVID-19 prophylaxis, it is not approved for this use in most countries[4][8][9].
