Drostanolone

Drostanolone is a synthetic anabolic-androgenic steroid (AAS) derived from dihydrotestosterone (DHT). It was first described in 1959 and introduced for medical use in 1961, primarily as Drostanolone propionate, for the treatment of advanced inoperable breast cancer in postmenopausal women. The drug acts as an agonist of the androgen receptor and possesses anti-estrogenic properties, meaning it does not aromatize into estrogen. This characteristic was beneficial in reducing estrogen-related side effects. While it exhibits moderate anabolic and weak androgenic effects, its medical use for breast cancer has largely been discontinued. Drostanolone is also used non-medically for physique and performance enhancement, particularly in bodybuilding, to promote muscle hardness and definition. It is a controlled substance in many countries.
