Overview
A fixed-dose combination drug containing **drotaverine**, an antispasmodic agent (phosphodiesterase 4 inhibitor), and **ibuprofen**, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with analgesic and anti-inflammatory action. The combination is formulated to provide both relief from smooth muscle spasms and pain, particularly effective in conditions such as menstrual cramps (dysmenorrhea) and abdominal spasms. Drotaverine acts by selectively inhibiting phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4), relaxing smooth muscle without anticholinergic effects, while ibuprofen inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes to decrease prostaglandin synthesis, reducing inflammation and pain[1][3][4]. The combination may be available as a monolithic or bilayer tablet developed for improved patient compliance and enhanced efficacy in pain management[4].
