Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xt-Colic-300 is a combination pharmaceutical product developed and marketed by Atlina Life Sciences, primarily indicated for the treatment of abdominal pain, spasmodic pain, and dysmenorrhea. It contains two active ingredients: **drotaverine hydrochloride** and **mefenamic acid**. Drotaverine is an antispasmodic agent that acts as a selective inhibitor of phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4), leading to increased levels of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) and subsequent relaxation of smooth muscles in the gastrointestinal and genitourinary tracts. Mefenamic acid is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that inhibits the cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, thereby reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins responsible for pain and inflammation. This synergistic combination is commonly used to manage colicky pain associated with various conditions, including biliary colic, renal colic, and menstrual cramps.
