Overview

Dryopteris juxtapostia root methanol extract is a botanical research compound derived from the roots of the fern species *Dryopteris juxtapostia*, which is native to regions including Pakistan and Kashmir. This methanol-based extract is characterized by a complex phytochemical profile containing flavonoids such as kaempferol, catechin, and quercetin 7-O-galactoside, as well as various phloroglucinol derivatives like albaspidin and filixic acid. Preclinical research has demonstrated that the extract possesses significant antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and hepatoprotective properties. In vivo studies in rat models have shown its potential to mitigate paracetamol-induced liver injury by improving hepatic cell structure and reducing cellular infiltration. Additionally, the extract has exhibited cytotoxic activity against HeLa (cervical) and PC3 (prostate) cancer cell lines in vitro. Currently, it is primarily used as an academic research tool for exploring natural product-based therapeutics and has no known commercial pharmaceutical developer.
