Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DS102 is an orally bioavailable bioactive lipid, specifically 15-hydroxyeicosatrienoic acid (15-HETrE), developed by DS Biopharma and its subsidiary Afimmune. As a metabolite of dihomo-gamma-linolenic acid (DGLA), DS102 possesses potent anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic properties. Its primary mechanism of action involves the inhibition of the 5-lipoxygenase (5-LOX) pathway, thereby reducing the synthesis of pro-inflammatory leukotrienes. DS102 has been evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials for non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and is also being explored for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Clinical data have indicated its potential to improve liver function markers and reduce fibrotic progression in these chronic conditions.
