Overview

DS107E is a topical pharmaceutical formulation containing dihomo-γ-linolenic acid (DGLA), a long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acid. It is developed as a cream for the treatment of mild to moderate atopic dermatitis. DS107E acts as an immunomodulating, bioactive lipid that targets immune activation and skin barrier dysfunction in atopic dermatitis by inhibiting the expression of CD40, which downregulates T-cell activation and reduces downstream Th2, Th1, Th17, and Th22 cytokine production. Additionally, DGLA metabolism via cyclooxygenase pathways leads to anti-inflammatory eicosanoids such as prostaglandins (notably PGD1) and thromboxanes. Clinical studies have shown that DS107E provides significant improvements in clinical endpoints like Investigator Global Assessment (IGA), Eczema Area and Severity Index (EASI-75), and pruritus scores with an excellent safety profile[2][4][6].
