Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DSB-50 is a synthetic, C-ring modified prodigiosene derivative developed as a potential anti-leukemia agent. It is a structural analog of the naturally occurring compound prodigiosin, designed to maintain anti-cancer potency while reducing the characteristic toxicity of the parent molecule. DSB-50 has demonstrated in vitro activity against various leukemia cell lines, including K562, CCRF-CEM, and MOLT-4, and has shown moderate cytotoxic activity in vivo within zebrafish xenograft models of chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML). The compound was synthesized and evaluated by researchers at Dalhousie University and the IWK Health Centre.
