Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**DSF100** is an investigational metered-dose topical aerosol spray containing **1.3% diclofenac epolamine**, developed by Virpax Pharmaceuticals using MedPharm's proprietary Patch-in-a-Can® technology. This non-opioid formulation delivers diclofenac epolamine transdermally as a spray film for targeted application to areas of acute pain, potentially enabling long-term dosing through the skin or mucosal membrane via a clear, flexible patch-like film from a pre-filled canister. Diclofenac epolamine, a salt form of the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) diclofenac, inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes to reduce prostaglandin synthesis, thereby alleviating pain and inflammation associated with minor strains, sprains, and contusions. Following positive pre-IND FDA guidance supporting a 505(b)(2) NDA pathway, Virpax plans Phase 1 clinical studies.[1][11]
