Drug intelligence / Profile preview
dsHI-CHT (also referred to as dsHl-CHT or dsHlemCHT) is an experimental double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) designed to target the 3'-untranslated region (3'-UTR) of the novel endochitinase-like gene (*Hl-CHT* or *HlemCHT*) in the Asian longhorned tick, *Haemaphysalis longicornis*. Developed by researchers at Kitasato University and collaborating institutions, dsHI-CHT acts via RNA activation (RNAa) to upregulate the expression of the endochitinase-like gene. This activation is mediated by Argonaute 2 (AGO2) and leads to accelerated embryonic development and early hatching of tick eggs. dsHI-CHT serves as a valuable research tool to study RNA activation pathways in ticks and explore novel RNA-based strategies for tick and tick-borne disease control.
