DT Polio

DT Polio is a combination vaccine developed by Sanofi Pasteur for active immunization against diphtheria, tetanus, and poliomyelitis. It contains purified diphtheria toxoid, purified tetanus toxoid, and inactivated poliovirus (IPV) types 1, 2, and 3. A key characteristic of DT Polio is its standard concentration of diphtheria toxoid, which distinguishes it from low-dose formulations like REVAXIS. The vaccine is primarily indicated for booster vaccination in children who have previously completed a primary immunization series. It works by stimulating the immune system to produce neutralizing antibodies against the toxins produced by *Corynebacterium diphtheriae* and *Clostridium tetani*, as well as providing immunity against the three types of poliovirus. It is administered as an intramuscular injection and has been evaluated in Phase 3 trials for use as a second booster in 6-year-old children.
