DT095597 is a small molecule antagonist targeting neuropeptide FF receptors (NPFFR), currently being developed by Domain Therapeutics (rebranded as Kainova Therapeutics) in collaboration with Merck KGaA. The program originated from research at the University of Strasbourg and is designed to address opioid-related conditions, including opioid-induced hyperalgesia and opioid dependence, as well as the chronification of pain. By antagonizing NPFF receptors, the compound aims to modulate pain perception and mitigate the adverse effects associated with long-term opioid use. Preclinical evaluations, including those conducted through the Addiction Treatment Discovery Program at the National Institute on Drug Abuse (ATDP-NIDA), have demonstrated its potential as a disease-modifying treatment. The program is currently in the discovery and lead optimization phase.
