Overview

DT3aP-HBs-IPV is a combination vaccine designed to protect against five infectious diseases: diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), hepatitis B, and poliomyelitis. The name indicates the inclusion of three-component acellular pertussis antigens (DT3aP), hepatitis B surface antigen (HBs), and inactivated poliovirus vaccine (IPV). This type of pentavalent or hexavalent vaccine is used primarily in pediatric immunization schedules to reduce the number of injections required for broad protection. The mechanism of action involves stimulating the immune system to produce antibodies against each component pathogen or toxin, thereby conferring immunity without causing disease. These vaccines are typically developed using recombinant DNA technology for hepatitis B antigen and purified toxoids or inactivated pathogens for other components.
