Overview

DTacP is an investigational Diphtheria-Tetanus-acellular Pertussis (component) combined vaccine developed by the Institute of Medical Biology of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (IMB-CAMS). Unlike traditional co-purified DTaP vaccines, which are produced by purifying the supernatant of Bordetella pertussis cultures, DTacP is a "component" vaccine. This means it is formulated using individually purified and precisely measured antigens, specifically pertussis toxoid (PT), filamentous hemagglutinin (FHA), and pertactin (PRN), alongside diphtheria and tetanus toxoids. This approach is intended to provide better control over the vaccine's composition, potentially leading to more consistent immunogenicity and a reduced reactogenicity profile. The vaccine is currently being evaluated in Phase I clinical trials for safety and immunogenicity in children aged 2 months to 6 years.
