Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This vaccine is a **hexavalent combination vaccine** containing diphtheria toxoid, tetanus toxoid, and acellular pertussis antigens (DTaP), hepatitis B surface antigen (HBV), inactivated poliovirus (IPV), and Haemophilus influenzae type b capsular polysaccharide conjugated to tetanus toxoid (Hib). It stimulates the immune system to produce protective immunity against the six indicated pathogens. Each component induces antibodies mediating protection by neutralizing toxins or blocking infection: - DTaP: induces antibodies to diphtheria and tetanus toxins and pertussis antigens - HBV: induces antibodies to hepatitis B surface antigen (prevents viral entry into hepatocytes) - IPV: induces antibodies to poliovirus types 1, 2, and 3 - Hib: induces antibodies to the PRP polysaccharide capsule of Hib (prevents invasive disease) These vaccines are designed for **primary immunization of infants and children** and lower the number of injections required in childhood immunization schedules.
