Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DTaP-Pfizer-pneumococcal infection refers to the co-administration of Pfizer's 13-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV13, brand name Prevnar 13) or 7-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (7vPnC) with a diphtheria, tetanus, and acellular pertussis (DTaP) vaccine. This regimen has been evaluated for safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity in healthy infants, particularly in the Japanese population. The pneumococcal component consists of capsular polysaccharides from multiple Streptococcus pneumoniae serotypes conjugated to the CRM197 carrier protein, while the DTaP component contains toxoids and purified antigens from Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Clostridium tetani, and Bordetella pertussis. The combination aims to provide comprehensive protection against invasive pneumococcal disease, pneumonia, diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis through a synchronized dosing schedule.
