Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DTaP-IPV-HB-PRP-T (marketed under the brand names Hexaxim, Hexyon, Hexacima, and Hexarium) is a fully liquid, ready-to-use hexavalent combination vaccine developed by Sanofi Pasteur. It is indicated for the active immunization of infants and toddlers from six weeks of age against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), poliomyelitis, hepatitis B, and invasive diseases caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib). The vaccine contains diphtheria toxoid, tetanus toxoid, two acellular pertussis antigens (pertussis toxoid and filamentous hemagglutinin), inactivated poliovirus types 1, 2, and 3, recombinant hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) produced in yeast, and Haemophilus influenzae type b capsular polysaccharide conjugated to tetanus protein (PRP-T). By combining these six pediatric immunizations into a single, fully liquid formulation, it reduces the number of injections required, simplifies vaccination schedules, and improves compliance.
