Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a pentavalent combination vaccine developed by China National Biotec Group (CNBG), a subsidiary of Sinopharm, specifically through its institutes such as the Wuhan Institute of Biological Products. The vaccine is designed to provide active immunization for infants against five major pediatric infectious diseases: diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), poliomyelitis, and invasive diseases caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib). It features a modern three-component acellular pertussis formulation (DTacP), which includes purified pertussis toxoid (PT), filamentous hemagglutinin (FHA), and pertactin (PRN), offering a more defined antigen profile compared to traditional co-purified DTaP vaccines. The vaccine also incorporates inactivated poliovirus (IPV) types 1, 2, and 3, and a Hib capsular polysaccharide conjugated to a carrier protein. It is currently in late-stage clinical development (Phase 3) in China, where it is being evaluated for safety, immunogenicity, and lot-to-lot consistency, often in comparison to established imported pentavalent vaccines like Pentaxim.
