Overview

DTaP-IPV vaccine is a quadrivalent combination inactivated vaccine being developed by the Beijing Institute of Biological Products (BIBP). It combines diphtheria toxoid, tetanus toxoid, acellular pertussis components, and inactivated poliovirus antigens into a single formulation. The vaccine is designed to induce protective antibody responses against four major pediatric diseases: diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), and poliomyelitis. By combining these antigens, the vaccine aims to simplify immunization schedules and reduce the number of injections required for infants and children. It is currently in the preclinical development stage and likely utilizes the Sabin strain for its inactivated poliovirus component, consistent with the institute's existing vaccine portfolio.
