DTaP-IPV vero is a preservative-free combination vaccine developed by the Statens Serum Institut (SSI) in Denmark. It is designed to provide active immunity against four major infectious diseases: diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), and poliomyelitis. The vaccine contains diphtheria toxoid, tetanus toxoid, acellular pertussis antigens, and inactivated poliovirus (IPV) types 1, 2, and 3. A distinguishing technical feature of this formulation is that the IPV component is produced using a Vero cell line (derived from monkey kidney cells) in serum-free media, rather than traditional monkey kidney cell production methods. Clinical evaluation in Phase 3 trials has demonstrated that DTaP-IPV vero is non-inferior in terms of safety and immunogenicity to traditional DTaP-IPV vaccines when administered to infants as part of a primary vaccination series.
