DTaP5-HB-IPV-Hib vaccine

DTaP5-HB-IPV-Hib vaccine (brand name: Vaxelis) is a fully liquid, ready-to-use hexavalent pediatric vaccine. Developed and marketed by MCM Vaccine B.V. (a joint venture of Sanofi and Merck & Co.), the vaccine is indicated for active immunization to prevent six diseases: diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), hepatitis B, poliomyelitis, and invasive diseases caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) in infants and toddlers from 6 weeks of age. It contains diphtheria and tetanus toxoids; five acellular pertussis antigens (pertussis toxoid, filamentous hemagglutinin, pertactin, and fimbriae types 2 and 3); recombinant hepatitis B surface antigen; inactivated poliovirus types 1, 2, and 3; and Hib capsular polysaccharide conjugated to the outer membrane protein complex of Neisseria meningitidis. It is administered intramuscularly as a 3-dose series.
