The DTwP-HepB-Hib-IPV hexavalent vaccine is a fully liquid, combination pediatric vaccine designed to provide active immunization against six major childhood infectious diseases: diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), hepatitis B, invasive diseases caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib), and poliomyelitis. It combines diphtheria and tetanus toxoids, whole-cell Bordetella pertussis (wP) organisms, recombinant hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), Hib capsular polysaccharide conjugated to a carrier protein (such as tetanus toxoid), and inactivated poliovirus (IPV) strains (types 1, 2, and 3). By integrating the IPV component into the traditional pentavalent (DTwP-HepB-Hib) formulation, this hexavalent vaccine simplifies infant immunization schedules, reduces the number of required injections, improves compliance, and supports global polio eradication efforts.
