DTwP-HepB-Hib-IPV vaccine is a hexavalent combination pediatric vaccine designed to protect against six major childhood diseases: diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), hepatitis B, poliomyelitis (polio), and Haemophilus influenzae type b infections. The formulation combines whole-cell pertussis (wP) with inactivated poliovirus and recombinant hepatitis B surface antigen, along with diphtheria and tetanus toxoids and Hib polysaccharide conjugated to a carrier protein. The mechanism of action is immunostimulation—eliciting protective immune responses against each targeted pathogen. This combination reduces the number of injections required for infants and children, improving compliance and coverage rates. It is primarily used in routine immunization programs for infants[8].
