Overview
DTwP-HepB-Hib-IPV (BioE) is a hexavalent combination vaccine developed by Biological E. Limited (BioE). It is designed for pediatric use to provide protection against six major childhood diseases: diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), hepatitis B, Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib), and poliomyelitis. This formulation is notable for its use of whole-cell pertussis (wP) rather than acellular pertussis (aP), which is often preferred in global health settings for its robust immunogenicity and cost-effectiveness. The vaccine contains diphtheria and tetanus toxoids, inactivated whole-cell Bordetella pertussis, recombinant hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), Hib capsular polysaccharide (PRP) conjugated to a carrier protein (typically tetanus toxoid), and inactivated poliovirus (IPV) types 1, 2, and 3. It is intended to simplify the vaccination schedule by reducing the number of injections required for infants.
