Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DTwP-HepB-rPV-Hib vaccine (SIIPL DTwP-HepB-rPV-Hib) is an investigational, fully liquid hexavalent combination vaccine developed by the Serum Institute of India. It is designed for the active immunization of infants and toddlers against six major childhood infectious diseases: diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), hepatitis B, poliomyelitis (polio), and invasive diseases caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib). Unlike traditional hexavalent vaccines that utilize inactivated poliovirus vaccine (IPV) derived from wild-type or Sabin poliovirus strains, this formulation incorporates a novel recombinant poliomyelitis vaccine (rPV) component. The vaccine is currently being evaluated in Phase I/II clinical trials to assess its safety, reactogenicity, and immunogenicity compared to the licensed HEXASIIL vaccine.
