Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Duanteng-Yimu Tang (DTYMT) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) decoction primarily investigated for its therapeutic effects on rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The formula is a combination of *Tripterygium wilfordii* Hook. f. (Duanteng) and *Leonurus japonicus* Houtt. (Yimucao). It functions by modulating the immune system, specifically targeting the imbalance between regulatory T cells (Treg) and Th17 cells, which is a hallmark of RA pathogenesis. By increasing Treg populations and decreasing Th17 activity, DTYMT reduces the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-17, TNF-alpha, and IL-6. This action helps to suppress synovial inflammation, reduce cartilage destruction, and improve clinical outcomes in patients with RA who may not respond adequately to conventional disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs).
