Dulaglutide is a long‐acting glucagon-like peptide‐1 receptor agonist (GLP‐1 RA), administered as a once-weekly subcutaneous injection. It is used as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults and children aged 10 years or older with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Dulaglutide also reduces the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events such as heart attack, stroke, or death in adults with type 2 diabetes who have established cardiovascular disease or multiple risk factors. The drug works by mimicking the incretin hormone GLP‐1, stimulating insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells when blood glucose levels are high, suppressing glucagon secretion from alpha cells, slowing gastric emptying, and reducing appetite[1][4][5][9]. Dulaglutide consists of two identical chains of a modified GLP‐1(7–37) sequence covalently linked to an Fc fragment of human IgG4[5]. It was developed using recombinant DNA technology.
