Overview
DuLeNing is a branded sustained-release (SR) formulation of metformin hydrochloride, an oral biguanide antihyperglycemic agent. Developed and manufactured by Conquer Pharmaceutical (also known as Zhenglu Pharmaceutical), DuLeNing is specifically indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. The sustained-release "Tablet (II)" formulation is designed to provide controlled delivery of the drug, which maintains therapeutic efficacy while significantly reducing the incidence of gastrointestinal adverse drug reactions (ADRs) compared to immediate-release formulations like Glucophage. Metformin exerts its effects primarily by decreasing hepatic glucose production, reducing intestinal absorption of glucose, and improving insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization. It is often used as a first-line therapy for type 2 diabetes due to its efficacy and favorable safety profile.
