Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DuoBell (CKD-330) is a fixed-dose combination (FDC) therapy developed by Chong Kun Dang Pharmaceutical for the treatment of hypertension. It combines two established antihypertensive agents: amlodipine, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker (CCB), and candesartan cilexetil, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). Amlodipine acts by inhibiting the transmembrane influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, resulting in peripheral vasodilation and reduced blood pressure. Candesartan cilexetil is a prodrug that is rapidly converted to its active metabolite, candesartan, which selectively blocks the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor in many tissues, such as vascular smooth muscle and the adrenal gland. This dual mechanism of action provides a synergistic effect, effectively lowering blood pressure in patients who are inadequately controlled by monotherapy.
