Overview

Duocetz is a fixed-dose combination analgesic containing tramadol hydrochloride, a centrally acting synthetic opioid analgesic, and paracetamol (acetaminophen), a non-opioid analgesic and antipyretic. It is indicated for the management of moderate to severe pain. Tramadol exerts its analgesic effect through two complementary mechanisms: weak agonism of the mu-type opioid receptor and weak inhibition of the reuptake of norepinephrine and serotonin. Paracetamol acts primarily in the central nervous system to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis, thereby reducing pain and fever. Together, these components provide synergistic pain relief with a rapid onset and sustained duration of action.
