Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DuoDERM E is a sterile hydrocolloid dressing developed by ConvaTec for the management of light to moderately exuding wounds. The dressing is composed of a hydrocolloid matrix containing sodium carboxymethylcellulose, gelatin, and pectin, which is bonded to a polyurethane foam or film backing. Upon contact with wound exudate, the hydrocolloid components interact with the fluid to form a moist gel that promotes physiological healing processes and autolytic debridement. Beyond its primary use in wound care for conditions such as pressure ulcers and leg ulcers, DuoDERM E is utilized in dermatology as an occlusive dressing to improve the efficacy of topical treatments, particularly corticosteroids like triamcinolone acetonide, in the management of chronic plaque psoriasis.
