Overview
Duoenda is a nanoliposomal formulation of mitoxantrone hydrochloride developed by CSPC ZhongQi Pharmaceutical Technology. Mitoxantrone is a synthetic anthracenedione antineoplastic agent that acts as a topoisomerase II inhibitor, intercalating into DNA and causing strand breaks, which inhibits DNA synthesis and repair. The liposomal delivery system is designed to enhance the drug's pharmacokinetic profile, increasing concentration within tumor tissues while reducing systemic toxicities, particularly cardiotoxicity, which is a known limitation of conventional mitoxantrone. It was first approved in China for the treatment of relapsed or refractory peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL).
