Duofluorid XII

Duofluorid XII is a dual-fluoride topical dental varnish developed and manufactured by the Brazilian dental company FGM. It is distinguished by its combination of two different fluoride sources: sodium fluoride (NaF) and calcium fluoride (CaF2), providing a total fluoride concentration of approximately 6% (or 5.63% depending on source calibration). The formulation is designed for a dual-action release profile where sodium fluoride provides a rapid release of fluoride ions for immediate remineralization and relief from dentinal hypersensitivity, while calcium fluoride remains on the tooth surface as a pH-dependent reservoir. This reservoir releases fluoride over a prolonged period when the oral environment becomes acidic, offering sustained protection. It is primarily indicated for the prevention of dental caries, the remineralization of incipient white spot lesions, and the treatment of cervical dentinal hypersensitivity.
