Overview

Duolac ATP is a combination product containing multiple probiotic strains and adenosine triphosphate (ATP), developed by Cell Biotech. It has been investigated by Soonchunhyang University Hospital in a clinical trial (NCT01045486) for treating atopic dermatitis in infants who also have a cow's milk allergy. [1] The commercially available 'Duolac ATP' product is a powder containing four patented probiotic strains: *Lactobacillus casei* CBT-LC5, *Lactobacillus rhamnosus* CBT-LR5, *Lactobacillus plantarum* CBT-LP3, and *Bifidobacterium lactis* CBT-BL3. [5] Probiotics are live microorganisms that are thought to improve atopic dermatitis by beneficially modulating the gut microbiome and the host's immune system. [11, 15] The ATP component may function as an additional energy source or a signaling molecule. [4] Duolac products feature a patented dual-coating technology designed to protect the live bacteria from stomach acid, ensuring their delivery to the intestines. [17, 19]
