Duowell

Duowell is a fixed-dose combination (FDC) medication developed by Yuhan Corporation, containing rosuvastatin, an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin), and valsartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It is indicated for the treatment of patients with concurrent hypertension and dyslipidemia (hyperlipidemia). Rosuvastatin works by inhibiting the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase, which plays a central role in the production of cholesterol in the liver, thereby lowering LDL cholesterol levels. Valsartan acts by selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor in many tissues, such as vascular smooth muscle and the adrenal gland, leading to vasodilation and reduced blood pressure. This combination therapy simplifies treatment regimens for patients requiring both antihypertensive and lipid-lowering agents.
