Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Duozinal is an over-the-counter (OTC) anti-allergic combination medication developed by the Polish pharmaceutical company Aflofarm. It is formulated as an oral syrup containing cetirizine dihydrochloride, a second-generation, selective peripheral histamine H1 receptor antagonist, and calcium chloride dihydrate. Cetirizine provides relief from allergic symptoms by blocking the action of histamine at the H1 receptor, thereby reducing symptoms such as sneezing, nasal itching, and hives. Calcium is included in the formulation as a supplementary component. The product is indicated for adults and children aged 2 years and older for the treatment of nasal and ocular symptoms associated with seasonal and chronic allergic rhinitis, as well as chronic idiopathic urticaria. It is marketed as a unique combination formulation in the European market.
