Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Durhalieve is a topical corticosteroid formulation developed by Echo Therapeutics for the treatment of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses. The product was a 1% hydrocortisone cream designed using a proprietary transdermal drug delivery technology intended to enhance skin penetration and efficacy. Echo Therapeutics submitted a New Drug Application (NDA) for Durhalieve to the FDA in late 2006. However, following a merger with Sontra Medical in 2007, the company shifted its strategic focus toward its needle-free continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system (Symphony) and its skin preparation system (Prelude), leading to the discontinuation of the Durhalieve program before it reached the market.
