Overview

Durvalumab is a fully human immunoglobulin G1 kappa (IgG1κ) monoclonal antibody and immune checkpoint inhibitor developed for the treatment of various cancers. It works by selectively binding to programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1), blocking its interaction with PD-1 and CD80 receptors on T cells. This blockade prevents tumor cells from evading immune surveillance, thereby enhancing T-cell-mediated recognition and killing of cancer cells. Durvalumab is indicated for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), small cell lung cancer (SCLC), biliary tract cancer (BTC), unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), advanced or recurrent mismatch repair deficient endometrial cancer, and muscle invasive bladder cancer in certain patients. The drug is administered intravenously as an infusion every 2 to 4 weeks depending on indication[1][3][6][7].
