Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dusquetide is a fully synthetic, 5-amino acid peptide classified as an Innate Defense Regulator (IDR) with immunomodulating, anti-inflammatory, anti-infective, and tissue-healing activities. It acts by binding to the ZZ domain of sequestosome-1 (p62), an intracellular adaptor protein involved in innate immune signaling. This interaction modulates regulatory pathways such as Mitogen activated protein kinase p38 (MAPK p38) and CCAAT-enhancer-binding protein beta (CEBP/B), promoting monocyte and macrophage recruitment to damaged or infected tissues while suppressing inflammation through regulation of multiple cytokines. Dusquetide has been investigated for the prevention and treatment of severe oral mucositis in patients undergoing chemoradiation for head and neck cancer, oral lesions in Behçet's Disease, and bacterial infections including melioidosis. The drug is developed by Soligenix[1][2][3][5][6][8].
