Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dusu Qing pellets (also known as Dusuqing granules) is an investigational traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by the Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Fujian Province in collaboration with Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Group. It is formulated with eight major herbal ingredients: *Trichosanthes kirilowii* (gualou), *Ginseng* (renshen), *Ophiopogon japonicus* (maidong), *Rehmannia glutinosa* (shengdi), *Houttuynia* (yuxingcao), *Radix Isatidis* (banlangen), *Pulsatilla chinensis* (baitouweng), and *Cortex Moutan* (mudanpi). Dusu Qing pellets are designed to clear heat, relieve toxins, resolve phlegm, and replenish qi and yin. It is primarily developed for the treatment of community-acquired pneumonia in elderly patients, particularly those presenting with the TCM syndrome pattern of phlegm-heat obstructing the lung with qi and yin deficiency. In preclinical studies, Dusu Qing has demonstrated anti-inflammatory and protective effects in bacterial pneumonia models, potentially mediated through the inhibition of the NF-κB and MAPK signaling pathways.
